I reckon there is a point in time in every actor’s career when they experience some sort of extreme awkwardness with regards to their fellow actors. For me, it’d be the immediate callback. A ton of eager actors and I await anxiously for a commercial audition bonding over light banter and whatnot. Then, we are all given our opportunity to enter the casting room in groups of two-one guy and one gal. The better ones are invited to stay, and the others are given a handshake, a thank you, and a “we’ll call you”. There’s nothing more awkward than having to wave a knowing goodbye to that fellow actor with whom you bonded over convos of scripts and the weather. And then there’s that pang of guilt when you have the thought that, if one of us has to be voted off the island, I’m glad it wasn’t me.
